Love Letter

My name is Adelya. I love my violins - big and small, I love my students - every one of them, (including my former ones), and I love, no - I need to be teaching and mentoring, listening and comforting, encouraging and inspiring.

I was once a student myself, and I was fortunate enough to have the teachers that were understanding and supportive as well as the ones that were scary, forceful, and mean. Yes, I said “fortunate” because through those experiences I discovered everything I wanted and didn’t want to become as a teacher and mentor myself. I realized I want to take care and give guidance, and most importantly, I want to be a safe place. Or, perhaps that holiday you are so looking forward to, for everyone who enters my studio.

I do not have any ambitions to fulfill as a professional teacher that I will force on you for my own ego. It is not your material achievements that matter to me or the end result. It’s the progress, the growth, the joy, and your relationship with your instrument and music that I care about most.

Mind you, I have tons of diplomas, degrees, awards received and competitions won as a soloist, in case you were wondering whether a ”true professional” would really care so much about the emotional side of things. Do not let the earlier paragraphs trick you into thinking I'm not capable of preparing you for the competitive endeavors such as competitions and auditions. If you are looking for the training you need for success in music to a professional level, I am more than willing and equipped to help you reach those goals, and to perhaps even give you a gentle kick from time to time;) BUT. I was never able to learn in a stressful environment myself and I don’t believe anyone can (or should), so our learning process will always be stress-free and you will never have to fear lessons again.

I hope this little love letter gave you a little glimpse into who I am and what being in my studio feels like. Thank you for your time and trust, I can’t wait to meet you.
